27 Things You Didn’t Know About India

India is fast becoming my favourite country, it really is unlike any other, but with the good comes the bad, and it’s this mix that makes India a conundrum inside a riddle covered in a mystery… wrapped in pancetta. Anyway here are 27 things I learned during my month in India… The wifi here is a myth. It just doesn’t work. End of story… which is so annoying for a blogger, I have so many stories to tell and pictures to share! On that note, when you do get wifi (rarely) the only website or app that seems to work is Whatsapp. I have no idea why but I love love love all the web developers at Whatsapp for making contact with my fam possible. India doesn’t smell. I arrived expecting gutter stench as so many people warned me that I’d be overwhelmed by a disgusting aroma. I was actually surprised that India smells, for the most part, amazing. A heady scent of spices, marigolds and masala chai. Masala Chai. HEAVEN! I drank at least …

Workout of The Month: 1Rebel Upper Body Reshape

Now that I’ve joined the amazing Classpass (check out my review here) – the workout subscription service or ‘Netflix for fitness’ as I like to call it – I check out an awful lot of new classes around London, so as my raison d’être is to share knowledge, or anything, with as many people as possible I thought I’d review, in-depth, a class each month to help you on your fitness journey. First up is one of my absolute favourites, 1Rebel’s Upper Body Reshape class… Overview 1Rebel is a boutique chain of gyms, well there are two – both in the city – owned by the son of the founder of Fitness First. The first gym dynasty? It doesn’t have memberships; you simply pay by session or you can buy a block. Or you can get three sessions per month on Classpass like me. Upper body Reshape is a HIIT-type class which mixes treadmill work and weights, all to a pumping soundtrack and low, moody lighting. The workout You’re given a number when you check …

What’s Hot? September Edition

What’s happening in the month of September, according to me anyway… The iTunes Festival Turns 10 Newly rebranded as the Apple Music festival, this gigantic music-fest touches down in Camden Town once again this month. And since it’s the 10th anniversary Apple have pulled out all the stops because – stop the press – BRITNEY IS PLAYING! Yes, that’s the one and only legendary Ms. Spears playing in the little old Roundhouse, crazy. There’s also gigs from Michael Buble, Elton John and the amazing Chance The Rapper. Check out the full line up and apply for free tickets HERE Dr. Martens Lighten Up Full disclosure, I am now an employee of Dr. Martens – I’m their new brand copywriter – but I’m nothing if not honest. So believe me when I say that their new DM’s Lite boots are a wardrobe essential. They have all the style of the classic Dr. Martens 1460 boot but they’re only a third of the weight, plus they feel like you’re wearing a sneaker. They’re so comfortable that I placed …

What is a Copywriter? And How To Be a Good One

I recently started a new job and I was talking to my mum about how happy I am to have found a career I’m good at and more importantly, that I love. Then we got to talking about what I wanted to do at school – it varied weekly (whale watcher, doctor, lawyer, Jennifer Lopez) – and how I didn’t even know my chosen career path existed back then!  All throughout my childhood and teenage years I was drawn to fashion, I loved cutting images out of Vogue, drawing clothes, creating my own magazines and learning designer’s name off by heart. I was under the illusion that the only ‘fashion career’ was to design clothes – which I wasn’t convinced I could do. My mother was even less convinced, I remember her dissuading me from studying fashion design at university so I studied classics instead. Nowadays it is a bit easier – the internet happened – information is boundless and very easily accessible. Here is where I admit that I’m as old as the hills …

ClassPass London Review

In case you don’t already know, ClassPlass is a subscription fitness service – you pay one monthly fee and get to go to classes at hundreds of gyms and studios in London. It’s like Netflix for your health. I was interested as I often book a hot yoga class or Frame class which can cost £15-£20 per class, so it adds up quickly. There are two plans with ClassPass: £55 Where you can visit 5 classes in a month £110 Where you can visit unlimited classes in a month WHAT ARE THE PROS? You can save a lot of money as the gyms you can use are super luxe and include Boomcycle, Triyoga, Frame and 1 Rebel amongst others – these classes are without a doubt much better than the ones included in your gym. I personally love 1 Rebel, it’s the most beautiful gym and a killer workout, but their classes usually cost £20! It’s nice to change up your routine, and you can use gyms at multiple locations. The booking system is super …

What’s Hot? August Edition

What’s hot this month? Hopefully the weather because I want to go hunting for Squirtles… and do other things much more becoming of an adult woman.  POKEMON GO I can honestly say, no game has captivated me like this since Theme Hospital (which I played for three straight days at my family’s Dell when I was 13). Pokemon Go has hit the headlines for doubling Nintendo’s value, being one of the most downloaded apps ever and for causing many an injury. After downloading it (not fully understanding it for a few weeks) and playing it, I can see why. I’m hooked, not in a ‘haha how ironic and post modern of me’ way, in a sincere and genuine ‘I love this fun game, can I play forever?’ way. My friends Hannah, Ben and I went on a hunt on Hampstead Heath and walked SEVENTEEN KILOMETRES. I’ll leave that thought with you… Download Pokemon Go PAPIER STATIONARY I have something of a stationary fetish despite doing the majority of my work on a computer. There’s just something about …

You Need To Read… The Girls by Emma Cline

This book had a lot of hype from the get-go, and a reported $2M dollar book deal for the first-time author (crayyyyyyy), so my expectations were high. Luckily they were met and exceeded, I finished this book within 12 hours, I honestly could not put it down.  The novel is set in the ’60s on the distant fringes of Hollywood, the main character has a famous grandmother – and I believe the author was a child actress so perhaps that’s where he insight comes from. Our protagonist is a bored suburban teenager with an absent father and absent-minded mother, so when she one day sees a group of girls unlike any she’s come across before she is entranced and desperate to get to know them. The girls in question actually belong to a cult, modelled on Charles Manson’s notorious ‘Family’ and you’ll recognise some of the minor stories as being taken directly from Manson and his followers. The cult soon sucks our young lead in and sex and drugs soon follow – with disastrous effects …

How to Make Your Own Raw Superfood Energy Balls

I love energy balls or raw food balls, whatever you wanna call them – they’re a tasty and healthy snack when you need a lil’ something. And they are far better for you than a Wispa (my usual go-to). The only drawback is that they’re incredibly expensive, so I thought I’d make my own! Here’s the recipe, it’s crazy simple and they’ll last about a week in the fridge.  INGREDIENTS  100g Frozen berries 50g Oats 100g Mix of Chia, raisins, any seeds, goji berries (use whatever you have in the cupboards) 1 tbsp Coconut oil 3 tbsp Honey or Maple Syrup 1 tbsp Protein powder METHOD  I use frozen berries in smoothies all the time because they’re so much cheaper and last longer. Melt these down in a pan until coulis-like in texture. Add the oil and honey.  Mix all your dry ingredients well in a bowl. Then add to the wet mixture.  Mound into small balls, the texture should be sticky.  Leave to set in the fridge for a couple of hours and enjoy …

3 Micro Trends for Every Budget

Ph: Tommy Ton 2016 As someone who has always worked in fashion, and has run a style blog for over six years, seasonal wardrobe updates are something I’m very passionate about. However in the last year or so I’ve been really thinking about how I stock my wardrobe from a sustainable and ethical point of view – having hundreds of items of clothing just hanging in my closet doesn’t sit well with me anymore. So these days I stick to my tried and tested classics (little black dresses, jeans and blazers) and quality favourites and just make little tweaks to make my look oh-so-now. It’s also much better for your pocket so you can travel more (see my tips here), eat more (food inspo here) and generally be less skint! So here are three very pocket-friendly purchases for the new season… P.S. I mean the British summer, so sorry, no bikinis here 😉 The Transformative Choker PRICE RANGE: £3 – £6 This trend is everywhere, I think Gigi Hadid started it but celebrities from Kim …

The Most Hilarious Podcasts For Your Commute

Is it a sign of old age, or a sign of the times that instead of the latest Boiler Room mix I’m now more likely to be found listening to a Podcast on my commute? There’s a line in my favourite TV show Eastbound and Down where the notoriously juvenile star Kenny Powers says ‘I’m a grown up, I listen to This American  Life’. And there is something quite mature about listening to certain Podcasts, you feel like you have your sh*t together. Of course some are just hilariously funny. So without further ado here are six of the best.   Ronna & Beverly Try not to laugh at this biweekly Podcast and you will fail miserably. It’s a weird concept – two fifty-something Jewish mothers, Ronna & Beverly, generally bitch, dole out advice and burp alongside celebrity guests. They’re like the know-it-all aunts at every wedding; Ronna the sophisticated one and Beverly the kooky one. I can highly recommend this, it’s just hilarious. Download it now This Week Had Me Like BEST. PODCAST. OF. ALL. …
