Timeless Style: The Trench Coat

Now that the British summertime is officially over – thanks, it was a great couple of weeks – I’m getting all excited thinking about my autumn wardrobe. Mainly outerwear. Any fashion lover worth their salt knows the value of a great jacket or coat They can make or break an outfit – plus, they’re essential unless you want hypothermia. One style that never, ever goes out of fashion in the classic trench coat or mac. The trench coat is as timeless as a pair of blue jeans, a denim jacket or an LBD. And it goes pretty well with all of those items! A great trench will see you through a chilly summer into autumn and winter as they’re especially good for layering. The style was invented way back in the 1850s for army officers to wear and it’s a quintessentially British bit of garb. Of course, they still look amazing today with celebrities such as Kate Moss, Alexa Chung and Jessica Alba frequently being seen in theirs. As for how to style a trench …

What I Wore: Bali Edition

On holiday my style gets way more colourful and outlandish – in London I feel as though you get funny looks if you go brighter than navy. I’ll often be the most colourful person n the tube, wearing cobalt or red in a sea of grey. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not knocking neutrals, my work wardrobe is mainly black, white, nude and navy. And it works. But when you’re in vaycay mode anything goes and you can just have way more fun with fashion. Last time I went to Bali, my main lament was that I just didn’t bring enough bikinis, so this year I brought about 10… which may have been too many but whatever, I loved them all. I got one special (read: expensive) bikini from independent label Just Sauced, a few cheap sale styles for ASOS and some sporty bikinis from Topshop. H&M are also failproof for swimwear. My body shape doesn’t suit one pieces as my stomach is basically my least-fat body part, so why am I going to cover …

Just Sauced Lula Bikini Review

After the first time I went to Bali, for a month, I realised that 90% of my time there was spent in a bikini. And as I only had a couple with me, it was basically the same bikini. So in all my photos I’m wearing the same one. Epic fail. So this time around I wasn’t going to be caught out. I wanted some sassy swimwear that no one else would have (always a risk if you head straight to Topshop). Enter Just Sauced, and independent swimwear label that I found on the ‘gram. Based in London, they make extra sexy bikinis and one pieces that draw inspiration from the 80s, Brazil and all things tropical. I chose the Lula, and OTT string triangle bikini with baby-pink ruffles, leopard print and really flattering cut. It’s very small, so not for the faint-hearted. But I often think, if you’re gonna show some skin, then commit to it. Anyway, check out their amazing range of ‘kinis for your next beach holiday. Just Sauced

How to Choose a Bikini if You Have Dark Skin

This may seem like a frivolous subject but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bikini article dedicated to us brown ladies. If you’re buxom, slim, curvy, apple, pear, ginger… yes. But not black, brown or whatever. My experience is that a black bikini doesn’t suit my skin tome at all – it just doesn’t pop. The brighter, the better – if you have dark skin then rejoice, because we can pull off a bright yellow, orange or pink bikini easily. Bold patterns and prints also look amazing – basically, if you have dark skin you can wear most things – especially notoriously difficult shades like white. If your skin is pale that’ll wash you out in no time but on a bronzed bod, it works. Colours to stray away from are pastels – they’re just not flattering. Or anything too dark. Athleisure is The Trend That Won’t Go Away

Athleisure took hold of our collective consciousness a couple of years back when suddenly everyone was working out, into hashtag #fitness and the training gear that celebs wore to spin their butts off (literally) at SoulCycle started spilling onto the streets. It was soon picked up on the catwalks, Alexander Wang being the poster boy for this new trend, and then high streets the world over. Like most fashion trends many people thought this would be a flash in the pan, but we were all proven wrong. It’s still here. So why this trend? Why is athleisure going from strength to strength? For me, I like to wear sports gear because it’s comfortable. When you lead a busy lifestyle comfort is key. It’s nice to be able to do a BOOM Cycle on a Sunday and then throw on a swear with my workout leggings and still look passable. Plus, sportswear fabrication are often pretty technical and offer support and dry technology so that you actually look better in your gym gear than your mufti. A …
