Timeless Style: The Trench Coat

Now that the British summertime is officially over – thanks, it was a great couple of weeks – I’m getting all excited thinking about my autumn wardrobe. Mainly outerwear. Any fashion lover worth their salt knows the value of a great jacket or coat They can make or break an outfit – plus, they’re essential unless you want hypothermia. One style that never, ever goes out of fashion in the classic trench coat or mac. The trench coat is as timeless as a pair of blue jeans, a denim jacket or an LBD. And it goes pretty well with all of those items! A great trench will see you through a chilly summer into autumn and winter as they’re especially good for layering. The style was invented way back in the 1850s for army officers to wear and it’s a quintessentially British bit of garb. Of course, they still look amazing today with celebrities such as Kate Moss, Alexa Chung and Jessica Alba frequently being seen in theirs. As for how to style a trench …

Just Sauced Lula Bikini Review

After the first time I went to Bali, for a month, I realised that 90% of my time there was spent in a bikini. And as I only had a couple with me, it was basically the same bikini. So in all my photos I’m wearing the same one. Epic fail. So this time around I wasn’t going to be caught out. I wanted some sassy swimwear that no one else would have (always a risk if you head straight to Topshop). Enter Just Sauced, and independent swimwear label that I found on the ‘gram. Based in London, they make extra sexy bikinis and one pieces that draw inspiration from the 80s, Brazil and all things tropical. I chose the Lula, and OTT string triangle bikini with baby-pink ruffles, leopard print and really flattering cut. It’s very small, so not for the faint-hearted. But I often think, if you’re gonna show some skin, then commit to it. Anyway, check out their amazing range of ‘kinis for your next beach holiday. Just Sauced

How to Choose a Bikini if You Have Dark Skin

This may seem like a frivolous subject but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bikini article dedicated to us brown ladies. If you’re buxom, slim, curvy, apple, pear, ginger… yes. But not black, brown or whatever. My experience is that a black bikini doesn’t suit my skin tome at all – it just doesn’t pop. The brighter, the better – if you have dark skin then rejoice, because we can pull off a bright yellow, orange or pink bikini easily. Bold patterns and prints also look amazing – basically, if you have dark skin you can wear most things – especially notoriously difficult shades like white. If your skin is pale that’ll wash you out in no time but on a bronzed bod, it works. Colours to stray away from are pastels – they’re just not flattering. Or anything too dark. Christmas Wrapped Up: A Gift Guide For The Girls

Take the guesswork out of christmas shopping and get the girl in your life something she’ll love. Or… let your inner greedy guts come out and just shop for yourself. ‘Tis the season for giving, doesn’t matter who to! The Fashionista The fashionista loves a label or anything bold, bright and contemporary. A pair of shoes never goes amiss, ditto a new niche perfume by Le Labo or Byredo. For a smaller budget a cute new phone case or some chi chi notebooks so she can bring some style to the office. The Fitness Fanatic I guess you could call me a health nut – though as I write I’m powering through a bag of Percy Pigs so maybe not. I do love to workout, try new classes and whip up a smoothie or two. For the fitty in your life they’ll love a new sports bra (you can never have enough), trainers, healthy cookbook or a ClassPass subscription or gift card so they can try next year’s latest fitness trends. The Classy Beeyatch Classic …

What’s Hot? September Edition

What’s happening in the month of September, according to me anyway… The iTunes Festival Turns 10 Newly rebranded as the Apple Music festival, this gigantic music-fest touches down in Camden Town once again this month. And since it’s the 10th anniversary Apple have pulled out all the stops because – stop the press – BRITNEY IS PLAYING! Yes, that’s the one and only legendary Ms. Spears playing in the little old Roundhouse, crazy. There’s also gigs from Michael Buble, Elton John and the amazing Chance The Rapper. Check out the full line up and apply for free tickets HERE Dr. Martens Lighten Up Full disclosure, I am now an employee of Dr. Martens – I’m their new brand copywriter – but I’m nothing if not honest. So believe me when I say that their new DM’s Lite boots are a wardrobe essential. They have all the style of the classic Dr. Martens 1460 boot but they’re only a third of the weight, plus they feel like you’re wearing a sneaker. They’re so comfortable that I placed …

What is a Copywriter? And How To Be a Good One

I recently started a new job and I was talking to my mum about how happy I am to have found a career I’m good at and more importantly, that I love. Then we got to talking about what I wanted to do at school – it varied weekly (whale watcher, doctor, lawyer, Jennifer Lopez) – and how I didn’t even know my chosen career path existed back then!  All throughout my childhood and teenage years I was drawn to fashion, I loved cutting images out of Vogue, drawing clothes, creating my own magazines and learning designer’s name off by heart. I was under the illusion that the only ‘fashion career’ was to design clothes – which I wasn’t convinced I could do. My mother was even less convinced, I remember her dissuading me from studying fashion design at university so I studied classics instead. Nowadays it is a bit easier – the internet happened – information is boundless and very easily accessible. Here is where I admit that I’m as old as the hills …

What’s Hot? August Edition

What’s hot this month? Hopefully the weather because I want to go hunting for Squirtles… and do other things much more becoming of an adult woman.  POKEMON GO I can honestly say, no game has captivated me like this since Theme Hospital (which I played for three straight days at my family’s Dell when I was 13). Pokemon Go has hit the headlines for doubling Nintendo’s value, being one of the most downloaded apps ever and for causing many an injury. After downloading it (not fully understanding it for a few weeks) and playing it, I can see why. I’m hooked, not in a ‘haha how ironic and post modern of me’ way, in a sincere and genuine ‘I love this fun game, can I play forever?’ way. My friends Hannah, Ben and I went on a hunt on Hampstead Heath and walked SEVENTEEN KILOMETRES. I’ll leave that thought with you… Download Pokemon Go PAPIER STATIONARY I have something of a stationary fetish despite doing the majority of my work on a computer. There’s just something about …
